Step 1:
The best way to start: is for you contact me in the interests of sending me a video clip of your project, we can skype/email as to the musical direction required. This way we can begin our creative relationship. After this step is done (free of charge for first time clients) we can proceed...
Step 2 : Discuss 8 important issues
1. THE BUDGET
1.1. Score Only -I simply write the score for a fee and you produce the music elsewhere with outsource musicians, engineers and producers.
1. 2 The Package - I score and produce the final mix including mixing and mastering for a flat fee.
2. TIME FRAME
Upon receiving the locked video cut, work will commence and will be completed no later than agreed upon specific date. During this process you have to right to 2 revisions without charge.
3. PAYMENT BY INSTALLMENTS (PAYPAL)
3.1 Score only - 50% of the composition fee gets paid at the beginning of the project and 50% at the end.
3.2 The Package - 10% of the fee gets paid at the beginning, 40% after the first revision, the remaining 50% upon approval of finished mix.
4. CREDITING
“Music by Buddhaboy 1.3” on main titles, end titles, single card credit, rolling titles and also posters, advertising, trailers etc.
5. EXPENSES
Any travel, communication or promotional material type expenses will be at your discretion.
As this is primarily a digital project, I foresee no issues in this area that exceed the agreed upon contract.
6. PROMOTIONAL INVOLVEMENT
To be discussed.
7. DELIVERY
Initial mock ups of themes, cues, montage music and revisions will be on mp3.
The finished master will be delivered on an agreed digital format.
8. BUY OUT DEALS/LICENSING
The licensing rights you have is to use the music freely in any connection with the project , e.g. trailers, promotional stuff, background music on DVD interviews etc. but not out of this context.
So you don’t have to buy-out the music to use it for the above.
Buddhaboy 1.3 remains creator of the music and therefore gets the royalties that performing rights organizations like ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN etc. collect.
In the USA a buy-out is possible, but let's not get ahead of ourselves...
